I heart stress fractures...

Dang.. two and a half months! I am a blogging CHAMP! woot.

Well ladies and gents, since last Tuesday I am the proud owner of a fantastic new addition to my shoe closet. Sadly, I can't actually put it away for at least three weeks. Maybe like 5. Can you guess what it is? I'll give you a hint: its big, black, and velcro. Yep. You guessed it. I am in a boot. And it is joyous. I'll tell you the story. But let me back up a little.

As I'm sure all you know, I am on the Bountiful High Cross Country team. I absolutely LOVE it. Love it so much!!!! For two reasons:

1) I have such a passion for running. When I run, I feel free. You don't even understand how running changes me. I don't need to go into detail, I have posted about it before. Basically, running is one of my favorite things to do, and I want to run all the time. When I'm happy, I want to run. When I'm sad and crying, I have to run. When I'm stressed, I run. When I'm angry, it's my anger management tool. Running means so much to me. I feel better when I run. I LOVE it. And cross country gives me an excuse to run harder and faster and longer. Every day of my life!!

Running is beautiful. Running is simple. Running is POWER.

2) I'm convinced that some of the best boys and girls at Bountiful High are on the cross country team. It is seriously such a stellar group of people. I laugh so dang hard every practice. As girls are hurled over wanting to puke, we make each other laugh. When we're so tired we just want to collapse, we somehow find something funny about the painful situation that just makes practice a blast. I honestly love my team so much. They make me want to be better, and they are SO inspiring. We work so hard, and each of us brings each other up. I cannot tell you how great so many of the people are. It definitely fills you with adrenaline when you run past your beloved teammates as they are screaming your name and telling you to run harder.

Well, I've worked my freaking BUTT off to be on that team. We started practicing and getting ready for races the first day of summer. I ran every day I could. From the start of summer to the end of summer, I ran over 265 counted miles. Thats a lot of running. Well then school started, and I committed myself to about 2 hours or so every day after school to run with my team. I have honestly worked so hard. And two weeks ago, all that brutal work finally paid off because...(drumroll please)..... I MADE THE VARSITY TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am/was the 6th best girl runner in our whole school. Do you know how happy that made me?! I was pretty much freaking stoked.

Let me repeat "all that brutal work finally paid off because...". Yeah well. I thought it paid off. But it turns out, with every mile I was running, my bone in my right shin was getting weaker and weaker. I could tell because every practice and race became more and more painful, but I shook it off because I didn't want to quit running. I was determined to run region and go to state with my team. My determination was the death of me. My leg finally got so bad, I couldn't even run a warm up. So, on Tuesday, I went to the doctor to get it checked out. And... I have a stress fracture. I can't run for the rest of the season. AND I AM DEVASTATED.

Seriously. Devastated. I think I have had a total of 5 meltdowns since Tuesday. You don't understand how badly I want to RUN!!!! I know I sound stupid and like a complainer. Yeah, go ahead and say it. I should just buck up. But man its killing me. I haven't run since last friday. That is like 9 days. I'm honestly going through withdraws. I feel like a lazy butt. And it is honestly making me super depressed. The other day I was crying and since I always run when I cry, I thought to myself, "Alright this is ridiculous. I'm going running." And then I realized I was crying because I CAN'T go running. And then I was even more upset. Haha. Its kind of funny in a really awful way. And now I'm just sitting at my computer. Looking out my window pitifully. Wishing I was out there. Feet pounding the pavement. I will NEVER EVER take my amazing body and its serious talent for granted again. The ability to run is such a beautiful gift. I'm so lucky and blessed to have it. I cannot wait until my leg heals so I can run again!! Ahhh!! :)

Well. That is my story. Thank you for letting me vent.
Stay healthy, kids. And drink your milk so you have strong bones and don't get stress fractures like me. YAY.

I just gave Emily Jarman and Kayla Hanni their Christmas presents. Its July.....

I am more.

I honestly cannot tell you how happy I am with my life right now. My life is JOY! Seriously, it's joy.

But lets be honest, my life is far from easy. Its hard. Last night I sat on my bed and cried like a three-year-old for a long time. Like an hour. So obviously life isn't perfect. It's hard. Really hard!! But I don't think I've ever been a happier person in my whole entire life! Want to know my secret?

I know who I am.

I don't know why it took me this long, but recently I have finally figured out who Abby Moon is. And I LOVE her :) You want to meet her? I'll tell you a little bit about her.

Abby Moon is a 15 year old girl. She has amazing parents who she loves so much. Her mom is her best friend. She has 3 younger siblings who make her so happy. She is a junior (a really young junior. she doesn't like that so much.) who enjoys school and learning. She loves Cutler's sugar cookies. Running is her passion. She runs for everything. It is her stress relief, her anger management, her escape. She loves how she feels when she is running. LOVES. Abby hates pickles, olives, tomatoes, and mustard. She loves the beach and wishes she could live by it. Some day she wants to. Really bad. It's one of her secret dreams, to live on the beach and learn how to surf. To wake up each morning to a fabulous sunset over the ocean and go running as she watches it rise in the sky. Pretty much she just REALLY REALLY loves the ocean and the beach. Like seriously. She loves it. She loves music and listens to it almost 24/7. She feels like music expresses feelings and thoughts that simple words can't. When used right, music is powerful and beautiful and inspirational. One of her pet peeves is when guys have long fingernails. She HATES that. Just if you were wondering. It grosses her out. Seriously, people. CUT THEM. Abby has this camera that is like her baby. Photography is something she really loves. She believes that laughing and ice cream are the best medicine. Laughing and ice cream make everything better :) Traveling is probably her favorite thing to do (To answer that question that people ask at stupid "get to know you games" or whatever, if she had a million dollars she would travel. Just if you were wondering.). Abigail feels like you learn and grow more when experiencing new cultures and places then you ever could in school room. She thinks they should just send people on vacations instead of making them go to school. Yep. She would like that. She has a passion for experiencing new things and new ways of life. She seriously soaks in whatever culture she can when she goes to a new place. She is in love with the outdoors. If she could spend all her life outside, she would. I'm not exaggerating, if people would let her, she would. In fact she kind of thinks that this blog post should hurry up and end so she can go play at the park with her sister.... Anyways. Haha. Another thing she LOVES is boating. Oh boating!! She wants to go right now. She REALLY wants to go right now. Wakeboarding, skiing, tubing, she loves it. Like loves. Abby loves her friends. She has the most amazing friends a girl could ask for. And pretty much she really loves them, and is so grateful for them! They are AWESOME. They make her laugh so hard. Abby has kind of a retarded laugh. It gets made fun of a lot. But thats okay :) Haha. Her hair rarely does what she wants it to, she frequently gets zits in the middle of her forehead, she isn't insanely gorgeous or funny. She has weird ears and a little extra flub in the stomach area. But she doesn't really care. She likes herself anyways :) Growing up and going to college scares her. Getting older and the future scares her. She feels like she is still a little kid who wants to jump on beds and color with chalk and just run to mommy when she is upset or afraid. But she has to grow up. She is becoming her own person who no longer is going to depend on people to make her happy. She is amazing, and she knows it. She is sick of people putting her down and making her feel small. So from now on, she is going to stand up and love herself for who she is. She is ABBY MOON, and nobody can make her differently. From now on, people's opinions aren't going to make her want to change or feel bad for who she is. She is herself, so everyone, you can love her or leave her. Hah. :) But do you want to know what really makes Abby Moon Abby Moon? Her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. They love her so much she can't even imagine. Nobody can. And she loves them. Her relationship with Christ is so special and sacred. In a way she feels like He is her best friend. Because when she thinks about all the qualities she wants in a best friend, He perfectly exemplifies them. He is always there for her, and would do absolutely anything for her. She knows He always has her back. He knows how she is feeling and she can go to him at any time of day, any place. And she does it often, haha. He hears so much venting from her. Every time she is having a bad day, He knows just why and just how to make her feel better. He TRULY knows exactly how she feels and it is so comforting to her. He has gone through it all before. He knows her so well, better than anybody else on this planet. He knows all her dreams, heartaches, wishes, favorite things, biggest secrets, boys she is crushin on, happiest moments, pet peeves. Their relationship is so personal. She doesn't know how, how it is possible for Him to be so close with every person on this earth, but she knows He does. And that is all that matters! And another thing that makes Him like her best friend is the JOY that he brings her. When she has His spirit with her, you can't imagine the joy that she feels. She can be crying and having the worst day and the second she talks to him, He makes her happy. He doesn't make everything better, he doesn't take away the problem or solve the issue, and He definitely doesn't make her life easy. But He definitely makes her feel loved. And all the sudden the stuff around her doesn't matter as much anymore! He makes her happy to be Abby. Her Savior and Heavenly Father put the light in her big brown eyes. They put the love in her heart. They make her life amazing!! They have done so much for her, more then she could ever imagine. She knows that they are REAL. They are so real. And she loves them so much.

So, do you all like her as much as I do?? ;) Guys, I'm so happy to be me. I can't tell you how this recent knowledge has improved my life. I don't know why the heck it took me so long to realize this. Haha. But now that I do, my life is a million times better. I love myself. There are lots of things about me that aren't my favorite, and I want to change. I know that I still have a long way to go. I'm not perfect, oh boy I'm so far from perfect. So far. But that doesn't matter because each day I'm trying and striving to be a better Abby then who I was before. I'm not going to be a DIFFERENT Abby, I don't want to change who I am. I just want to make the current Abby better. Because I know I can be better. And every day I'm going to try my hardest to improve. And someday, when I've worked as hard as I can and done as much as I can do to better myself, my Savior through his incredible grace and miraculous atonement will do the rest of the work for me. I can't wait for the day when I'm able to see him and my Father again. Hug them, just be held by them and again feel of their powerful love. Ahhhh!! I can't wait :)

Well, sorry that was really long. You probably didn't care to hear all that. But I just wanted to get it out! Haha.

Stay great!
Love you all!

Cancer...

... is a word you never ever want to hear. So when one of my very best friends told me she had it, I can't believe the instant feelings that overwhelmed my body. It was like all this pressure was put on me. Almost like drowning, thats the only thing I can think of to describe it. I couldn't breathe. It was like some unknown force was pushing down on me and I could barely stand up. The next two days were sort of a blur. I remember sitting on my couch for like 2 hours. Not moving. Not crying. Not thinking. Just sitting. NUMB. Absolutely numb.

This is the story of Kayla Hanni. She is one of my best friends. I love her so much. We have only known each other for about a year, but we are so close I can't picture my life not knowing her!! Well, Kayla has osteosarcoma. Osteosarcoma is a malignant tumor that usually occurs in teens. Kayla's tumor is right above her eye. She found out about a month ago. They started treatment as soon as they could, and she went in for her first dose of chemotherapy the last week of school. She goes in again on the 21, which is Tuesday. She then has 3 straight weeks of chemotherapy, and each week she will be in the hospital for 3 days. After a few more rounds of chemo, she will go in for (intense) surgery to remove the tumor if all is going right. Fingers crossed this will be about August. Then I'm pretty sure after the tumor is removed, a few more rounds of chemo will happen, and HOPEFULLY, it will be gone! And all is well! At least thats what we are all praying for.

Here is how I feel about the whole process without getting too personal. It's hard!! The hardest part so far has definitely been seeing her in that hospital bed. Me and Katie Kitchen and Emily Jarman went out and took her a giant poster I made and just to see her. It was HARD. Kayla is crazy, and I mean crazy. We laugh like hyenas when we're together and there is never a quiet or dull moment with the two of us. She is so full of life and light and happiness. And I walked into that room and saw her so still. So, so, still. It was shocking. She looked so lifeless. We tried to make things happy and have a good time, which we did. We laughed. A lot. haha. Well the three of us did. She listened! And laughed some too thank goodness! But it was still so hard to see her! She didn't look like Kayla. And for a whole week and a half, almost two, she sat in bed. It took her so long to get back to her usual self. I really missed her. I would run up to her house and visit her as often as I possibly could. So I would see her, be laying next to her and looking at her, but I would still miss her. I still missed my Kayla. She wasn't the girl laying on that bed. Anyways, luckily she started feeling better, and we had a total blast this last week, hanging out every possibly second and laughing almost the whole time. She is nuts. NUTS!! And I love it :) Crazy, hilarious, and a total blast to be around. So we partied, a lot. Haha.

One adventure that came along with this situation is I got to go wig shopping with her. Her parents, brother, and I went with Kayla to a couple of stores to find her some hair she can wear to church and school and such when she is done with treatment but still has no hair. I can't decide how I felt watching her try on hair after hair. None of it hers. It would be so hard to be in that position. I imagine myself sitting in that chair, looking in the mirror, and not seeing me. Each wig made her look so different. She looked absolutely beautiful, don't get me wrong. She's a babe, and she looked absolutely awesome in pretty much anything they tried on her. But hair is such a big part of how you look. And I think it would be so hard to look in the mirror and see yourself looking so different. She has started to lose a lot of hair these past few days, and so we have talked a lot about shaving it off. I think she should just do it now, shave it off. Because to me it seems like it would be a lot easier to handle it if I was the one who made MYSELF lose my hair. I did it on purpose. Its not some substance that is making my hair fall out, I chose to shave it off. Does that make sense? So if I were her I think I would just do it now. BUT, talking to her, I sort of changed my mind. Think about losing all your hair. She kept saying, "I can't shave it off. I love my hair. I don't want to lose it yet." And putting myself in her shoes, it would be hard. That would be really hard. Haha I hate my hair, and I have said several times "If i could do it and not look weird, I would totally shave my head!!". But now that she has to go through with this process and actually lose her hair, I don't know if I could. She gets so frustrated and says things like "NOBODY understands how hard this is. Nobody gets how it feels", and she's right. I don't! I have no idea. I wish I did so I could help her, give her advice. I feel like all I can do is just encourage. But to be truthful, I feel like I'm doing nothing at all to help her.

All I can say is, it's going to be a rough summer. Plus the other girls in our little "foursome" are leaving me for like the rest of the summer. So I'm going to be spending a lot of time at Primary Children's, and a lot of time by Kayla's bed. The two of us. And as rough and sad and heartbreaking as it will be, I know she can do it. Kayla Hanni is not one to give up, give in, or back down. That girl is strong, and I know she will get through it. And by the end of this, she's going to be even more so. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" is definitely going to apply to her. To be honest, I think it just might apply to me too. Haha. I can't believe how hard it has been for me too!! Definitely don't compare to how hard it is for her, but don't get me wrong. It's not easy!

I just hope I can be a good friend and help her out. I don't know exactly how she's feeling, I don't know what I can do to make her feel better. Sadly, I can't cure her. I can't take the cancer away. I can't take the sickness and nausea away. I only wish I could. But right now, all I can do is stick by her side and let her know I love her. Be happy and try to keep things positive. Smile. I just hope thats enough!

Pray for her guys. Please. Please pray for her. I know that the Lord hears every word of prayer we ever say, so I know He will hear you and help her. Pray for smooth treatment, a quick recovery, and as much comfort as possible. Pray that she will feel of His love for her, and of our love as well. Anything. Just if you can, keep her in your heart and mind.

Kayla, I love you. Thanks for being such an incredible friend. You'll get through this. Hang in there. You're not alone. God doesn't give you any trial you can't handle. The fact that he gave you this trial just shows me how strong you really are! So don't give up! Endure to the end, baby. This is one of my all time favorite talks, given in 1973 by Elder Hugh B. Brown, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Its amazing. Read it!! Kayla Gail, I love you, I'm here for you, and I'm praying for you. Hang in there, you pickle eating freak ;)

NO MORE BRACES!!!! :D

I bit into an apple for the first time in a year and a half today, and it was the strangest sensation ever. I love it! hah.

I'm home!!!

Hey, all you foreigners! Its been months since I've last blogged. I'm sorry it's been so long, but I've been on a tour of Europe!!! You wouldn't believe all the amazing things I've seen! It's truly been a life changing experience......

Okay just kidding. It has been months since I last posted, but sadly I can't blame that on Europe.... I only wish!! I've actually just been home. But my blog was giving me trouble and wouldn't let me in. Some "verification issue" and then I couldn't access my email, all this lame junk that comes along with technology. But that's alright, because I finally fixed it and I'm finally back! Haha!

A lot has has happned since march 27th! Seriously. A LOT. I dont think a full catch up would be possible. Sorry, I'm sure you are all DYING to know every little detail about my facsinating life, right? Hah. ;) But I will tell you this. School is out and summer is awesome!! I've spent tons of time with my fabulous friends. I seriously don't think I could ask for better people to be around. You guys know who you are, and you are all absolutely INCREDIBLE. I love you guys so much, thanks for making my life a party!! I'm so lucky to have you!! :) I've also spent a ton of time outside. Something about being in the outdoors, the sunshine! I don't know how but it never fails to rejuvenate me and make me feel alive. I spend so much time outside hiking, and biking, and chalking, and RUNNING!! ahh running, how I love thee :) what would I do without you!? I've run every day this past week. And, since I've been keeping track I can tell you that from Monday morning to Saturday morning I ran 26 miles. That's a marathon in one week!! Okay so it's really not too impressive, but I am pretty proud of myself ;) haha! Running is the greatest feeling. It truly is a rush and I love the feeling of FREEDOM. Like if you keep going, nobody can touch you. When I run, I'm in control. And boy I love it!! :) Aside from friends and running, I've spent a lot of time with my family! I don't know what I would do without those guys. Every once and a while, I'll be doing something and it will just hit me how amazing they are. That happened this week. And it just makes me love them even more. Its amazing how much a different perspective can change how you feel about someone. But seriously, I love my family.

Anyways, I would love to give you details on every awesome thing I've done this summer thus far (park city, dirty dash, lagoon, tandem biking, and the list continues), but I have to wake up early tomorrow for work. WORK!?! Did Abby Moon just say work!? Yes. Yes I did. Tomorrow morning at 7:30. Wish me luck...

Well, love to all!! Sorry it's been so long. Hopefully all 7 of you followers haven't forgotten about me! 7.... how pathetic. Haha! Lots of love and a promise to write again soon,

ABBY MOON,
world traveler. In her dreams. Woot!

Pie Day Resolutions

So I know most people make New Years Resolutions, but its a little late for that! So I've decided to make pie day resolutions! Hah! Just a super quick list of goals and things i want to accomplish!

Be healthier. Don't just eat to eat (as I am doing now!). Limit my sugars and fatty things. Stretch at least three times a week, and run or do some sort of intensive work out at least 4 times a week. In the summer, 5!

Write in my journal at least once a week.

Finish my personal progress before I become a Laurel.

Go out for the Cross Country team in the fall.

Run at least a 10K and possibly a half marathon this year.

Keep my overall GPA above a 3.8.

Get a summer job so I can pay for EFY.

Be a lot less quick to anger. Be more patient towards my family and try to be a lot less annoying to them! Make it an effort to do something really fun with my younger siblings at least once a week and really try to involve them more in my life. I want to be a good sister!

Backflip off of the diving board this summer! Yes!

I had a bunch more in my mind about 20 minutes ago, but I seem to have forgotten them. Huh!! So I will have to update when I remember!! :)

Happy Pie Day Everyone!!

Jared and Kellee

So today I was sitting in Young Womens, and for some strange reason I had this thought pop into my head! I thought to myself, "When I get home I should email Jared and Kellee!" For those of you that don't know, Jared and Kellee are my incredible aunt and uncle that live in England. Yes, England. They have two DARLING kids: Jude and Hazel. I haven't seen them in ages! I can't wait until they come home. I've never met Hazel, but let me tell you. She's adorable. So anyways, I wrote a little "JKJH" on my hand so I wouldn't forget to email them when I got home. Well, my dad and I must have been having one of those father-daugher-telepathic-think-alike-moments, or whatever you want to call it, because the first thing he says when I get home is that he finally called Jared and Kellee today and got to talk to them! So naturally I freaked out because 50 minutes earlier I had written their name on my hand. How weird is that?! So anyways, we talked about how they were doing and he said that they read this blog! How cool is that? I didn't even know!! So, I figured I don't need to write a huge long email about my life and all that good stuff because they already know! Hah!!

so instead we will just go with...

Jared and Kellee!! :)
I miss you and your cute kids so much! I love reading your blog, London looks absolutely amazing. It is so fun to see all the incredible things you are doing and keep updated on your whole family!! I can't believe how fast Jude and Hazel are growing. Way too fast! My baby cousins are so big! Holy cow! But I'm glad London is treating you well. I am very jealous of the many adventures you are having and can't wait to hear all about them when you come home!! You are such a wonderful family and I am very blessed to have you in my life and be a part of yours! I love you all very very much!! Hope all is well! We are thinking of you and miss you here in Bountiful! I hope to talk to you soon!

I hope you guys see this!! If not, maybe I will have to do an email after all! :) haha!

Freedom

I hear the rhythmic pounding of my feet as they hit the pavement. They are light and they barely touch the ground. As I run faster and faster, farther and harder, my mind leaves my body. All my fears, worries, struggles; they are gone. I think of nothing except flying. The joy I feel as I float and glide. I am free. This is my natural high. I could run forever. Just go, go until I can run no more. My mind and heart are feeling one thing: bliss. Pure bliss. The blood is pulsing through my thighs, they sting from going for so long. But the stinging doesn't hurt. It doesn't burn. I feel power. Power that radiates through my body just as fast as my blood is. As my feet touch the ground, they spring off. I am bouncing on clouds as I fly. Fly beyond my imperfections, my doubts. As I run, I float higher and higher. I look down and watch myself rise above all my worries. Because right now, they mean nothing to me. I am better then them. My mistakes and regrets that haunt me as I lay in bed are left behind, sitting in my doorway. For a brief while I am free from them. Their sad faces cannot catch me. My running shoes are like the tool that takes me to bliss. When they go on, I am no longer the girl I see in the mirror. The girl who I wish I could change. I am better. I am proud to call myself Abby Moon. I have stolen Cupid's shoes. The small wings that flew him around spreading love now fly me to the sky. They fly me to my happiness. They fly me to bliss.

I don't stop. I keep running. I wish I could run forever.

My turn to be behind the wheel

So we had to write an essay for drivers ed about "what drives us". I know you guys probably don't care, but the topic I wrote about is really something I feel strongly for, and I actually worked kind of hard on it! Haha! Surprise since it isn't getting graded! But I figured I would share it with you. Enjoy!!

I am in complete awe and silence as I stand fixated on the small African village. I can taste the dust swirling through the air, each breath I take feels dry and dirty. I hear the wails of the newborn boy crying for his mother as he lays on the red and hand woven blanket. I am overcome with emotion as I view another small child holding his young mothers hand. She lays still, her beautiful face is unmoving. I want to reach out and wipe away the dirty boy’s fresh tears. I want to cry out for the doctor as he walks away with his small, worn out briefcase. I cannot believe the anguish and heartache I feel. Then somebody coughs in the next room over and I am whipped back to reality. This is not just ink on a piece of paper. For that young family, for hundreds of thousands in Africa, it is reality. Last year, over 1.3 million Africans died of AIDS, and another 22.5 million were living with it. This horrible scene I viewed in the picture was common. It was real! And for a while, the image was so powerful it became real for me, too. I felt as though I was standing in the hot, dusty village underneath the colorful blanket draped over sticks that this poor family calls home.

All over the world, things like this are happening. Poverty, HIV/AIDS, malnutrition, disease, and lack of access to clean water are just some of the hardships that add to the harsh lives of many people around the world. As we sit comfortably in our homes, millions of other people are in a daily battle with death. They are literally fighting for their lives! You would think the statistics are enough to have everyone jumping out of their seat to help, but yet many people don’t even know what life is like for the majority of our world’s population. I want to help change this fact. It’s time for us to take a stand, to fight for the good of our brothers and sisters around the world. The first step to change is making the problem known. This is my goal. I want to use photography to expose the fortunate few to the challenges and trials others face. I want to use the power of a camera to spark a change in this world, this place we call home. This is my goal.

Ever since I was young, I’ve had a love for photography. There is something incredible about an image that makes you feel. An image becomes truly amazing when you feel compassion, joy, heartache, or pain. Truly good pictures are not just a 2-D image. They are something that transports you to a new place, where you can see, hear, taste, and feel what is going on. I personally think a photographer becomes really amazing when he or she can take a simple camera to any place on the globe, whether it be their backyard or halfway around the world, and make their images so powerful, people who view them feel as though that were there too.

Someday, I will be the photographer who took the picture of the boy crying by his mother’s deathbed. I will be the one whose images spark that emotion in the hearts of others. It’s time we stand up, reach out, and help. This period of ignorance and selfishness must end. The time has come for change, and I’m going to be a part of it. I want to make a difference in this world using my love of photography. This is my passion. This is my future. This is what drives me.

(okay so this isn't really sad. but they are just too cute to not put on!! :) adorable!!)

These pictures kill me. I seriously can't believe some of the incredible but yet heartbreaking pictures there are. I can't believe people don't DO something!! This is horrible!!

But wouldn't that be incredible? To travel the world taking in every bit of culture and piece of knowledge about other people that I can? First off, I have a love of culture and find it truly fascinating. Second, I really can't believe how hard life is for other people. I sit here in my heated house, with electricity, running water, and food stacked up in the cupboards. They barely even eat every day. Its horrible. Hopefully someday this won't be the case. I want to make a difference. I want to make a change!

Well, thats all for today. I haven't posted in a while, life has been crazy! Sorry, but this is all you're going to get today. Hope all is well. Happy valentines day tomorrow!! :)

Random daily tidbits for today:

Today was late start! Lovely! :) I love late start! It is so nice to get an extra hour of sleep. Anyways, I woke up an hour before school started and was super speedy getting ready, so I decided to curl my hair. I NEVER curl my hair. It's just not something I do! I think spending a lot of time on hair or clothes is a waste. So I just don't. But today I did, just for kicks. And I'm actually liking how it looks! HAH!!! Imagine that! I got lots of compliments on it. Which always just makes you feel good. So that was nice!

I learned "25 Scripture mastery verses in 25 minutes!!", or so my new seminary teacher would call it! I love seminary. Several of my friends think it is boring, which I admit it can be. But I really quite enjoy it! It is a good break from the normal school day. And I really do learn a lot. It is a great place to feel the spirit and I love it! My new teacher seems pretty awesome too. So far I really like him! I know not a soul in my whole class. So that really sucks. But I'm making friends!! (well. sort of. I'm trying. haha) So that is good!

Ahh, drivers ed. What a class! SOOO boring. Let me tell you! Thank goodness there are cool people in it! Or man oh man! I would struggle! ALL we do is watch movies. Movies movies movies. Let me just tell you about this last lovely one we watched. It was 30 minutes of viewers "driving" in a car. So it looked like you were driving and all you could see was your mirrors and the street. The movie was called, "The Inns and Outs of Turning". Let me give you a preview (this was basically exactly what it said the whole time): "You are approaching a right turn. When you get close enough, turn on your blinker. Now pull over to the right. If you are turning right, turn from the right side of the street. If you are turning left, turn from the left side of the street. (well duh!) Now stop. Scan left. Scan right. Scan left again. Proceed. *Pause* Now, we are going to turn left at this next four way stop. Pull up and stop. Scan left. Scan right. Scan left. Scan right again. All clear? Proceed. Think back to the last minute. Have you checked your mirrors lately?" on and on and on!!!! Wow. It was seriously a thrilling movie (NOT!). Yeah. Drivers Ed is going to be an adventure.

Spanish. Spanish was very interesting today! We took a test. It was a very different type of test! Our teacher put us in groups of three and gave us a half sheet of paper full of instructions to get somewhere in the school. We had to go find where the paper was taking us. It was like, turn right, go down the steps to your left, etc. Like a scavenger hunt! Well. My group didn't do so good. We got it perfect up to the last like 5 steps. We thought we knew the right room, but weren't sure (turns out, it was the right room). It was the choir room, and there were like 100 kids in there singing their heart out. We didn't exactly want to go in, stop the class, and ask the teacher in spanish if he "had something for us". Those were the directions! Can you say, AWKWARD?!? So we didn't. Yeah. Well. That was it. Oh man. We walked around for like half an hour! Haha!

Math. Don't even get me started. Ahhh. I seriously almost feel asleep. Not only is it a seriously hard class, it is right after lunch. And for some reason, it always makes me SOOO tired!! I always get so sleepy and half to keep shaking my head to stay awake or pinching myself or something! It is bad. Bad bad news.

I'm going to the Mandarin for dinner tonight!!! :) I got a 4.0 this past term, my brother got a 3.8, and my sister got good grades too! So we are going to celebrate! And I am so excited. I love the Mandarin. :)

IT SNOWED!!!!!!!! I love the snow. I am so happy it snowed. Yes, I kind of want summer to come. But I really do adore the snow. I just hate when it is cold and there is NO snow. But man, it looks so gorgeous outside. Everything looks clean and white and pure and just beautiful!! Plus now skiing will be good :)

I would say more, but I am getting kicked off the computer. So adios for now.

Happy Tuesday!!

inspired

okay. this guy freaking rocks my socks. how creative is that? he's awesome.

check him out: ben heine

ah snap!

Alright. I'm officially frustrated.

I spent 2 hours goofing off with my camera, water, dice, etc. And took some pretty sick pictures if i do say so my self! Haha! But my camera seems to be having difficulties uploading. And it is actually kind of stressing me out. If something is wrong I'm going to cry! But I will work on it! And hopefully have them up soon.

Switching gears, NEW SEMESTER!! Hallelujah! Only downer? I don't like A days much.

1: Seminary. I actually think this will be a good class. I have a new teacher and I think he seems super great! I'm sure I will learn a lot! The only serious downer? I know not a SINGLE person in my whole entire class. Nobody!! Ahhh!!

2: Drivers Ed. I like the people in this one a lot! And I think it will be pretty fun! But the class totally sucks. As in the actual work and stuff. It's going to be the most boring class. Lets just call it nap time! (Just kidding, just kidding.)

3: Espanol! There are a total of NINE people in this class. Crazy, huh? Only nine.

4: Honors Pre-Calc. Just shoot me now!! This is such a hard class. I just don't get math. It is SO hard!! But somehow, amazingly, I ended up with an A last term. It's a miracle :)

I don't know how tomorrow will be. Choir (so excited! hah!), Honors English with Christy (shoot me again. this very possibly might be a worse class then math), Honors Chem (super hard class, but strangely enough I actually think it is super interesting and really kind of enjoy this class!), and then World Civ! With Hathaway! I love that woman. She's like my favorite teacher!

Hope your day was fabulous!

Happy Wednesday!

It's called high speed photography.

One word? Amazing!! Some of the pictures I see leave me speechless! I'm going to try it as soon as I'm done posting. I don't think I have equipment sufficient enough to actually take good ones (Or talent, for that matter!). But I really want to try it! We'll see how it goes! Haha!

Here is a quick glimpse for you all:

(breaking the rules. get it? hah hah)

Amazing, isn't it? Stunning!

Happy Thursday!

Say... CLICK! take a pic!!

Go Diego Go, anyone? :)

Anyways, I made this goal for this year that I was going to do this special made up photography challenge once a week so I could improve my photography skills and that would force me to get more creative. Well, so far I haven't started it yet. Hah! When I start, I will post pictures. Until then, it is a secret :) muah hah hah. But now everyone is doing this 365 thing? And I kind of really want to do it too! Although I doubt I could stay on top of it. I'm thinking that maybe I will do a 365-31! So like a 334? Haha. And just start in February. We shall see.

I'm aching to get a new camera lens. So bad. They are just so darn expensive! Ah well.

That there camera is like my baby. I'm in love with it :) The 4 years of saving was well worth it! I have officially had him for a year and 10 days! His birthday was New Years day! I think its high time he has a name. Any ideas? (and yes. I know I'm a dork. Haha. don't worry)

Any of you like 3 readers out there want to do a photoshoot with me? I want to so bad! Let me know.

Peace. And happy picture taking!

Adios!

BUBBLES

I took these pictures this summer, and forgot about them. I rediscovered them today and I love them!! Another great thing is that I did like zero editing. These are straight out of my camera.

I love my baby sis.

random tidbits

I haven't posted in a while. But nothing super exciting has really happened! So here is just a bit of what has been going on in the past week.

* I turned 15!!! :) Yay!! Finally. I will never be asked, "You're only 14?!?!?!" another time in my life. And won't that be just so wonderful!! I haven't got my permit yet, but I am very excited! So far, 15 isn't that much more exciting then 14. But who knows what could happen this year! I guess we'll just have to figure it out!!

* Skiing is my favorite thing on planet earth. Like no freaking joke. It is INCREDIBLE. The feeling of flying through gorgeous pine trees in knee deep powder is indescribable. I love it. Its like I'm flying!! It's pretty bizarre. You look down and your feet have disappeared. And you just feel like you're soaring! It's amazing!!

* My twin cousins are doing a study-abroad program for BYU at the Jerusalem center. They are going to have the most amazing experience. I'm actually quite jealous of them to be honest! Haha. Just by reading their blogs I can feel the spirit. It is going to be such a testimony building experience for them. I can't describe to you how much I love this gospel and how glad I am to be a part of it! I hope that someday I can have that experience, too.

* I got the Wii game Just Dance for my birthday. And I played it with my little sisters and my mom for like 2 1/2 hours. It. Is. HILARIOUS. SOOO much fun!! Hahah!! We look like such retards! But it's pretty great!

* I am so in love with running it is crazy. If I couldn't run, I don't know what I would do. I love it!!! And it is the most amazing and efficient stress reliever known to man!!

* Speaking of stress, school is nutty. I don't like it very much. Haha! End of semester is this week and I'm up to my neck in stress. It's crazy. Ah well.

* I made a blanket like, last November or something? It was one of the easy kinds that requires no needles or squat. But it's super fuzzy and has monsters on one side and I love it!! :)

* Something that I love even more is the slippers I got for Christmas. They are the most comfy and soft things I have ever felt. They are like constantly on my feet!! I wake up, swing my feet out of bed, put them on. The second before I walk out the door, I take them off and put on my actual shoes (LAME!!). I get home, put on my slippers. Take them off at the very last second I have before getting into bed. They're so grand. :)

I do not kid when I say they are the most wonderful things I have ever put on my feet.

Alright. Well that was a pretty nonsense post. But whatever. Haha. I was bored. Anyways, happy saturday!!
Love Abby
